My name is Bénédicte Lavergne. I was a museum guide for years, which involves standing in front of a painting with twenty people and telling them what they’re looking at, often in museums that weren’t this one. I’ve lived on rue de Passy for over twenty years and cross the Ranelagh garden almost every morning; the museum is at the end of the path, on rue Louis-Boilly. I learned about Monet in this museum before teaching about him elsewhere, and I still return on Thursday evenings when the underground room is empty and you can sit in front of the large Water Lilies without anyone walking in front of you.
This site tells you what I’d say to someone who stopped me in the garden to ask how to visit: don’t try to book in advance, tickets are sold at the door; don’t come on a Monday; don’t count on the Museum Pass; go downstairs first; and if you want Giverny, that’s what you book, not the museum. What this site is, and isn’t
This is not the museum’s official website, which sells its own tickets and publishes its own hours. It’s also not a tour operator: I don’t sell anything or organize any visits.
