How to get to the Musée Marmottan Monet by metro
From La Muette
Line 9 crosses Paris from east to west and stops at La Muette. Exit onto chaussée de la Muette, turn your back on the shops on rue de Passy, and enter the Ranelagh garden. Cross it diagonally toward the southwest: the museum is the private mansion closing the view at rue Louis-Boilly. Five minutes, six if the old carousel distracts the kids. This is the route I take almost every morning, and it’s the most pleasant.
From Ranelagh
The next stop on line 9, toward Pont de Sèvres, is Ranelagh. It’s a bit closer to rue Louis-Boilly, but the exit leads to avenue Mozart, and you’ll need to walk back toward the garden. The travel time is the same. Both stations are equal; La Muette has the advantage of cafés at the exit.
RER C and buses
The RER C stops at Boulainvilliers, about a ten-minute walk through the streets of Passy. Buses 22, 32, 52, 63, and 70 serve the La Muette area. The 63 is useful from the Left Bank and near the Orangerie. By car, there’s a public parking lot on rue de Passy, but parking in the neighborhood is difficult on Saturdays.
From Orsay and the Orangerie
From the Orangerie at Concorde: take line 1 to Franklin D. Roosevelt, then line 9 to La Muette, 25 to 30 minutes. The reverse route is for those visiting the Marmottan in the morning and the Orangerie in the afternoon, which I detail on Marmottan or Orangerie. From Orsay, the simplest solution is to connect to line 9 or take bus 63. Allow about half an hour here too. The Trocadéro is three stops away on line 9, about 2 km.
From the airports
I’ll keep it general—the lines change: take the RER to Paris, then line 9 to La Muette. Allow a good hour, longer during rush hour. If you arrive with luggage, note that large bags and suitcases aren’t allowed inside the museum, and the cloakroom is small; details on cloakroom and bags. Drop off your luggage at your hotel first.
