Verdict: the only tour on this list that puts an art historian in front of the Marmottan’s paintings, and just for your group. Seven hours, all tickets included, a timed itinerary, and a pre-visit call after booking. Only one review published, with five stars, which isn’t statistically significant. I recommend it to those who know why they want a guide and are comfortable with the tour being in English.
The itinerary, timed
The order is the reverse of the small-group day: Giverny in the morning, Marmottan in the afternoon. After pickup in Paris, the first stop is Monet’s water garden, seventy minutes, the Japanese bridge and the water lily pond. Then the Museum of Impressionisms in Giverny, forty minutes. Lunch lasts seventy-five minutes, it’s at your expense, but the guide helps reserve a table, which matters in Giverny during the season.
Back to Paris and a guided tour of the Musée Marmottan Monet, seventy-five minutes. That’s the order I’d choose myself: you see the motif in the morning, then the paintings, and the grand Water Lilies in the underground gallery take on new meaning when you step out of the pond.
